What is the xsi:type for a Managed metadata column?

Nov 16, 2016 at 1:15 PM
Hi there

I have an existing managed metadata column but I cannot find the type for mapping in the XML file.

I've tried with NATIVE, MANAGEDMETADATACSOM and MANAGEDMETADATAAUTOADD, but none works.

Thanks

Can you provide additional detail on the problem

See help using DIFS

Specifically in relation to this ManagedMetaDataCSOM should work providing you have permission to ADD to the given term set as the same user from the SharePoint UI

Hi,

sorry (bad copy + paste).

I'm using last version of DIFS, Sharepoint 365 abd 64-bits.

The point is that I don't want to add but use an existing catalog. The column is for business process, and has -more or less-, this shape:
-Operational
  • Process 1
  • Process 1.1
  • Process 1.2
  • Process 2
  • Process 2.1
    ....
    -Support
  • Process 3
  • Process 3.1
Thanks!!

Ok

Imagine I have this managed metadata column
-Operational
Process 1
Process 1.1
Process 1.2
Process 2
Process 2.1
....
-Support
Process 3
Process 3.1

Imagine in the excel file i have 2 columns:
filename || business process

I want to enter something like this

mydocument1.docx || Process 2.1
mydocument2.docx || Process 1.1
mydocument3.docx || Process 2.1
mydocument4.docx || Process 3.1

Currently, I can't do it with DIFS.

-- If I use mapping as String, I get error "guid does not exist"
-- If I use ManagedMetaDataAutoAdd, I get error "this guid is already in use".

In fact, I cannot use the "adding" methodology, as it will only work the 1st time, as as you see in the sample processes may appear several times.

Thks,

DIFS does this using ManagedMetaDataCSOM and there are examples in the documentation.

If you are experiencing a problem with an import mapping (ManagedMetaDataCSOM ) also include;

A sample of the source data.
The EXACT configuration of the destination column
Log file (see manual for details of how to enable logging)

Hi there,

thank you very much. Activating the log made the difference.

It was a typo error, as the value in the Excel was "modified" and in the managed term set "modifed", without the 2nd "i".

Maybe in the next version you could expand the piece of the screen where it writes the activity and make the font bigger.

In any case, this is a great tool!!

Really thank you for sharing this with the community.
