Hello! I'm trying to use DIFS to migrate a folder structure to SharePoint online but I receive an error when I hit on LOAD button:

SiteAndListTreeLoader:https://domain.sharepoint.com
SiteAndListTreeLoader:Exception:The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden

PARAMETERS used:

Site URL: http://domain.sharepoint.com/sites/ICT Document Library ="IMPORT"

my settings on DIFS Destination page:

  1. SharePoint site:https://domain.sharepoint.com
  2. Destination Web Url (Relative)=/sites/ict/
  3. Destination Folder Url (Relative)=/import
  4. Destination Server Url (Absolute)=https://domain.sharepoint.com

thank you

Hi.

I will hopefully get time to try this on SharePoint online but theorectically it should work.

I suspect that you will need to select forms authentication under the authentication tab.  Obviously the credentials that you enter there will need to be of a user with the rights on the destination document library to add documents to it.

Let me know how you get on.

Hi

I have tried to use Forms Authentication in this format:

error message=SiteAndListTreeLoader:Exception:The user's login name or password is not valid.

I'm sure that username and password it's correct. I'm logged in in the destination site and I'm Site Collection administrator.

What's wrong in your opinion? thank you very much for your help.

P.S: I've tried also the username= domain.onmicrosoft.com\myname

Hi,

I have looked into this further. It is not something that you are doing wrong but more that SharePoint Online requires a specific means to authenticate.

In future this will be added to DIFS but for now it will not work without modification to the code.

See http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh147177.aspx

Version 1.0.1.0 of DIFS has been uploaded today. This supports importing documents to SharePoint online.

The source code version does not have the Office 365 radio button available. Will this be updated in a future release?

Just download the source and checked, office 365 checkbox is there.

Thanks yes it is. mmm, might have been a different package.

Any ideas about extending the meta data options with say a CSV file or Access table?

can you elaborate? Hopefully in a different discussion since I suspect that this has nothing to with the "does it work in sharepoint online?"

Hi
I've tried new import session with new DIFS (version 1.0.1) using Office 365 authentication mode.

This is the error when loading Destionation:
SiteAndListTreeLoader:https://domain.sharepoint.com/sites/UK
SiteAndListTreeLoader:Exception:Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.IdentityModel, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
What's going wrong?
thank you

This is because you have not installed the Microsoft identity framework. Please refer to the installation section in the documentation.
